Founders Story

Hi, My name is Garth.

I once stood at the open door of a plane, 12,000 feet in the air. heart pounding, legs shaking, and jumped anyway. That moment didn’t just change my weekend. It changed everything.

THE LEAP THAT STARTED IT ALL

I didn’t set out to build a leadership brand. I set out to survive one of the hardest chapters of my life.

A career that felt like a cage. A knee injury that ended my competitive martial arts journey, after years of training, representing South Africa at the Kung Fu World Championships, winning silver and bronze. My parent’s divorce. A painful breakup. A life that looked fine on paper but felt completely hollow.

I was stuck. Running from everything instead of facing it.

Then, on a total whim, I tried tandem skydiving. Standing at that door — wind howling, ground a blur far below — the instructor counted down: 3… 2… 1…

And I jumped.

In those seconds of freefall, something extraordinary happened. The fear, the doubt, the noise, all of it dissolved. And for the first time in years, I felt completely, undeniably alive.

That’s the moment I understood: growth doesn’t live in certainty. It lives in the leap.

FROM IT DESK TO THE SKIES

I didn’t just take up skydiving as a hobby. I dismantled my entire life to chase it.

I walked away from a 12-year IT career. Sold everything I owned. Moved to the UK to become a professional indoor skydiving instructor, with no safety net, no guarantee, and no roadmap. My family thought I’d lost my mind. Parts of me wondered if they were right.

But I trained in the UK. Competed across Europe. Earned sponsorship. And eventually found myself representing Bahrain at the Indoor Skydiving World Championships.

The kid from Johannesburg who couldn’t figure out who he was supposed to be had found exactly who he was meant to become.

THE FULL CIRCLE

Life has a way of bringing you home — differently.

In 2019, Abu Dhabi called. I joined CLYMB, the largest indoor skydiving facility in the world, and eventually returned to what I once ran from: Technology. A senior IT project manager role landed in my lap, and I took the leap — again.

As of 2025, the results have been real. I have led full facility onboardings for integrations into enterprise digital ecosystems, weaving together ticketing, CRM, ERP, biometrics, retail, and infrastructure seamless launch’s. On time. Under budget.

I’ve directed digital expansions across Various globally renowned entities. Transformed organization’s entire IT service function. Earned my PMP, ITIL Foundation, and two Generative AI certifications from Google Cloud and PMI.

It turns out the same mindset that gets you to jump out of a plane at 12,000 feet — trust your preparation, execute under pressure, stick the landing — works just as well in enterprise tech delivery.

WHY I BUILT THE LEAP LAB

Because I keep seeing the same thing, over and over.

Talented Leaders, smart, capable, driven, paralyzed by perfectionism. Afraid to lead boldly. Waiting for certainty that never comes. Managing tasks instead of inspiring people. Surviving instead of thriving.

I built The Leap Lab for every Leader who has ever felt overwhelmed, undervalued, or unsure of their next move. For every leader standing at their own version of that plane door, wanting to jump, but not quite knowing how.

This is the community, the toolkits, the mindsets, and the frameworks I wish I’d had.

Every framework, every post, every product we create carries one message:

Projects are experiments. Leaders are learners. And the only wrong leap is the one you never took.

THE 7 PILLARS I ENDEVOUR TO LIVE BY:

🔥 #GoFirst — Courage isn’t waiting for perfect. It’s stepping forward anyway.

💡 #BeCurious — Every question opens a new door. Stay hungry.

🎯 #AddValue — Leave every person, project, and place better than you found it.

📈 #SeekGrowth — Progress beats perfection, every single day.

🧠 #BeAware — Where focus goes, energy flows. Lead with intention.

🌅 #PositivePerception — Challenges aren’t obstacles. They’re experiments in disguise.

💪 #NeverGiveUp — Failure is feedback. Every iteration builds mastery.

THIS IS YOUR INVITATION

I’m still leaping. I’m back skydiving. Exercise has become a ritual. I’ve taken up squash again. I’m learning Arabic and the guitar. I’m studying for my PgMP. I’m doing the work — every day — to become 1% better.

And I’m building this community for every Leader who wants to do the same.

If you’re ready to lead with courage, grow with purpose, and leave a real mark on the world……

You belong here.

Leap First. Learn Always.
